Obituary

Carl Alan Bartee
(August 14, 1943 - November 18, 2018)



Carl Alan Bartee, age seventy-five, passed into the arms of the Lord at his home in Huntington on November 18, 2018.   Preceding him in death were his parents Walter Raymond Bartee and Alemma Aria Bartee, his sisters Aria Bartee and Anita Barasch , a niece, Charletta Maynard and nephews Kenny Adkins and Robby Adkins.He is survived by his wife Roma Laverne Bartee, daughter Roma Marie McKenzie, her husband David Eugene McKenzie and grandsons Colin Brody McKenzie and Conor Barrett McKenzie. Also, his sister Kay Whisman and brother-in-law Russell Whisman, Rosalie Lewis and brother-in-law Charles Lewis, sister Barbara Penell, sister Alanna Heinrick and brother-in-law Lynn Heinrick, twelve nieces and nephews, among which is Randy Lewis who was Carl’s closest nephew and many dear friends including his life-long friend for over seventy years, Charles McComas. Carl was a Veteran of Vietnam where he served as a Sargent from 1966-1968. There he was a recipient of two purple hearts and many honors.  After the war, he lived in Arizona for over fifty years where he was a bricklayer and later worked for Digital as a computer analyst in Phoenix.  Carl retired from the United States Postal Service in Huntington where he was a mail handler.Carl loved baseball and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.  Carl grew up in West Huntington where he played baseball at Saint Clouds with his friends for hours on end.  Carl was a devoted father and a loving grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Carl’s celebration of life will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, November 26th at Reger Funeral Home.
