Pastor Carl Merritt
(1942 - March 23, 2016)



Pastor Carl Merritt, 73, of Ona, was called home to be with his Friend and Savior, the Lord Jesus, on March 23, 2016 at Cornerstone Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. noon on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Milton, by Pastor Ronnie Scarberry and Pastor Paul Meadows. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Carl was the son of the late Donald and Alice Hay Merritt. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra (Nash) Merritt; five wonderful children and their spouses Carl Jr. “Chip” and Julie Merritt of Barboursville, Carla and Mark Jordan of Ona, Robin and Tim Farley of Hurricane, Dale and Kelly Merritt of Barboursville, and Lenny and Amy Merritt of Ona; 11 grandchildren, Brad and Crystal Merritt, Levi and Aimee Merritt, Joslyn Jordan Snyder and Chris, Jasmyn Jordan, Sierra Jordan, Savanna Jordan, Tuesday Farley Gandee and Jason, T.J. and Jess Farley, Colin Merritt, Ryan Merritt, and Colton Merritt; seven great-grandchildren, Keian and Kylie Snyder, Cassie and Cooper Gandee, Marlo and Nash Merritt, Myles Merritt and two on the way; siblings and their spouses, Dorothy and Buddy Mills, Norma and Buzzy Nash, Glen and Carolyn Merritt, Lois and Allan Fulford and Jean Morrison. He has been a positive influence to many people during his ministry. He was Pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Milton until the time of his passing. Carl served many churches and congregations in this area. He will be greatly missed, he left many close and dear friends. He was a strong spiritual guidance and influence to many people during his ministry. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Milton. Welcome Home, my son, job well done.
