Obituary

ALBERTA S. "BIRDIE" KELLY
(January 23, 1957 - February 23-2017)

ALBERTA S. "BIRDIE" KELLY, 60, passed from this life into the arms of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 23, 2017, after a battle with lung cancer. Birdie worked tirelessly as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 32 years, and some of her favorite pastimes included reading, cooking and fishing. She was one of the most caring people you could have ever met, and she could light up a room just by walking into it. She was born January 27, 1957, daughter of the late James Albert Duty and Margaret Ellen Abshire. Birdie is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Anita and Gregg Bertke; and grandchildren Cheyanne, Chase and Grace Bertke; and a son AJ Kelly and grandson Lyam Kelly. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia LeGrand and Donna Duty; a brother Mark Duty, and a half-brother Kenneth Duty, as well as many loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Birdie's life will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, W.Va., with close family friends Rick Nida and Jim Casto officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Birdie will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
