Lois “Kippy” Barnhill 83, of Florence, AZ formerly of Huntington, WV passed away July 22, 2011 in Mesa, AZ. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Beard Mortuary with Rev. Allen Reasons officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. She was born July 21, 1928 in Hot Springs, VA a daughter of the late Edwin H. and Susie M. Layman Porter. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Barnhill, a sister Betty L. Stoner, two brothers, Charles E. Porter and Edwin H. Porter, Jr. and a grandson, Terry Barnhill. She was a graduate of Huntington East High School and Marshall College. She was an accountant and after retirement worked as a travel agent in Florence. She was a member, played the piano, taught Sunday school and served as the treasurer for 1st Baptist Church of Florence. She was Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, Ocotillo Chapter 21, of Florence. In 1985 she and her husband, Charles started the Senior Center in Florence and operated it for ten years. She was a former member of the VFW Post 9738 Auxiliary. Lois is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna L. and Robert Denny of San Tan Valley, AZ; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerrell E. and Janet Barnhill of Wauseon, OH; two sisters, Nancy Tomblin of Huntington and Virginia Greene of Reynoldsburg, OH; nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, seven nieces and a nephew. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8 at Beard Mortuary.
