Daniel E. Capron, 87, of Kitts Hill, Ohio passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at St Mary’s Hospital. He was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Rome, NY, the son of the late Vernon and Thelma Hackney Capron. He was a retired insurance agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Funeral services will be held at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012 with Pastor Denver Prater officiating. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his only brother, Jack E. Capron. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ramona Capron, his four stepsons, Patrick (Melody), Michael, and Scott (Nafi) Woodard, and Robert Dillon; his four sons Rondall (Deb), Greg (Lynette), Mark (Ella Mae) and Dana (Marti) Capron. He is also survived by his only daughter, Lisa Elliott. He leaves to mourn his passing 11 grandchildren; P.J., Douglas, and Gabriel Woodard, Angela Dillon, Christopher Capron, Michaela (Mike) Flowers, Christopher (Laura) and Joshua Capron, Beverly, Joshua, and Olivia Payton; and 3 great-grandchildren, Shaun Mencke, Connor & Kurtis Capron. He was a Purple Heart Veteran of World War II, serving with Co. L, 320th Infantry Regt., 35th Division, at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg and Central Europe. Burial will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Graveside services will include military honors conducted by the VFW Post 9738 of which he was a member. Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the mortuary. The family would like to express a special thank you to St. Mary’s Hospital, the Cardio Vascular Intensive Care Unit and the nursing staff.
