VIRGINIA "GINNY" HALL KRIEGER, age 97, passed away on October 19, 2013, at Woodlands Retirement Community. The daughter of Josephine Deweese Hall and Carl Gustavus Hall, she was born at Point Pleasant, WV, on December 12, 1915. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Karl “Grundy” Krieger; an infant sister, Lena Mae Hall; and another sister, Betty (James) Brady. She is survived by a sister, Carol Teagle of Lakeland,FL; and by her sons Tom (Jackie) of Southport, NC, and Joe (Carolyn) of Tallahassee, FL; five grandchildren--Tom, Jr (Amy) Krieger of Miami, FL; Kelley (Shane) Gruber of Westerville, OH; Katie (Nick) Trueman of Holly Springs, NC;  Emily Krieger (Nate Kommers) of Seattle, WA; Sarah (Richard) Chatfield of Athens, GA; and six great-grandchildren, Colin and Tyler Krieger, Josie and Jane Gruber, Jack and Mae Trueman. In her youth, Ginny was an avid amateur tennis player who won many local tournaments. Later her favorite hobbies included playing the piano, bridge, and following the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. She graduated from Wiseman's School of Business and worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation during WWII. She then taught kindergarten for over twenty years at both Enslow Park Presbyterian Church and Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church. She volunteered for the American Red Cross during WWII and later as a Docent at the Huntington Museum of Art. Ginny was a proud member of the local chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution and the Junior Women’s Club, and served as one of the first female Deacons at the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington. A memorial service will be held at the Abbey of Devotion, Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Huntington, WV, on Saturday, October 26th at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the Abbey thirty minutes prior to the service. Beard Mortuary is assisting the family. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Woodlands Retirement Community, especially those on One South, and Hospice of Huntington for all of their kind attention and care that Ginny received while at Woodlands. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Huntington or The Salvation Army.
