Obituary
Helen V. Dils Stanley, 84, of Huntington, WV passed away on Thursday October 3, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgelawn Memorial Park Abbey of Devotion with Rev. Jack Lipphardt officiating. Burial will follow. She was born November 13, 1928 in Huntington, WV the daughter of the late Harry V. Dils and Christine Dils Baldwin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil E. Stanley who founded Stanley Brothers Produce, Inc.; two brothers, Charles and James Dils and two step-sisters Pauline Hill and Thelma Marks. Helen was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church, the E.T. Jones Bible Class former Vice-President and Treasurer, Johnson Memorial United Methodist Women, the Council on Ministries and a member of The Woman’s Club of Huntington. She was a 1946 graduate of Huntington East High School, attended Marshall University and was a graduate of American Institute of Banking. She was employed by Twentieth Street Bank for 26 years where she served as secretary to B.C. McGinnis, Jr, President. She was a member and served on numerous committees for the Huntington Cabell Republican Women, Cabell County Republican Executive Committee and the West Virginia Federation of Republican Women. Helen was a member of the National Federation of Republican Women and was a Delegate to the 1987 NFRW Convention in Orlando, the 1989 NFRW Convention in Baltimore and the 1991 NFRW Convention in Cincinnati. She accepted the GOLD Award in Orlando and the DIAMOND Award in Baltimore for HCRW. She also attended the 1987 Midwest Regional Conference of the RNC in Des Moines, Iowa. She was appointed by Governor Arch A. Moore, Jr. in 1985 to the West Virginia Private Industry Council, serving 4th term as Secretary of the Council. She was elected statewide as a Delegate and Rules Committee Member to the 1988 Republican National Convention. She was the former Cabell County Republican Ballot Commissioner and City of Huntington Republican Ballot Commissioner. President of Big Buck Energy Oil & Gas, Inc. Secretary and Treasurer, Diamond Point Mining Company, Inc. Agent for Harshbarger Oil and Gas Co., Wolfpen Oil and Gas Co. and Clayton Oil and Gas Co. Partner, Conrad & Stanley “Real Estate”. Helen is survived by nieces and nephews, Mark E. Dils, Martha Englert, Carol Frye. Cinda Rose, Kathy Miller, Steve Hill and Carol Polly and a host of extended family and friends.
