ObituaryJohn R. “Bob” Mott, 88, of Huntington, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born on April 27, 1927 in Huntington, a son of the late Burton Homer and Sarah Maude Mott. He graduated from Huntington High School and attended Marshall University. He was an executive of the family business for over 40 years at B.H. Mott & Sons Inc., which was integral in the development and exploration of Uranium mining in Colorado and South Dakota and his work took him all over the United States. He was a member of the Diamond Core Drilling Manufacturers Association, Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, the Huntington Rotary Club, and Guyan Country Club. He was past president of the Tri-State Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, was instrumental in the building of their first Huntington office building, and a recipient of their ‘Silver Beaver’ award. In the addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John R. ’Rob’ Mott II; his brother, Burton H. Mott Jr., and his sisters, Margaret Lambert and Mildred McEldowney. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Patricia Davidson Mott; his son, Mark Mott of Nashville, TN; his daughter, Dr. Kelly Mott Pearcy of Charleston, WV and her husband, Dr. Thompson E. Pearcy and his daughter-in-law, Joyce R. Mott of Alderson, WV; grandchildren; Dr. Elizabeth Kelly Mott and her husband, Micah LeMaster, Anna Katherine Mott and Emily Grace Mott of Nashville, TN, Thompson Robert Pearcy and his wife, Kaley, of Charleston, WV, and Andrew Davidson Pearcy of Vail, Colorado; three great- grandsons, James, Robert, and Duncan and his siblings, Edwin A. Mott of Huntington, David K. Mott of Naples, FL, and Mabel M. McHaffie of Albuquerque, NM. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Hubert Harvey, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest privately at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington.
