Jerry L. Shoemaker, 80, of Huntington, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Hospice House of Huntington. Born on July 15, 1936 in Huntington, he was a son of the late Ivan Shoemaker and Virgie Scarberry Shoemaker. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Shoemaker. Jerry was a dedicated Christian and was an elder at the Guyandotte Church of Christ for over 40 years. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday school classes. Jerry is survived by his wife, Phyllis Jean Shoemaker; his children, Annetta (Gary) Spurlock of Huntington, Jerry A. (Joanna) Shoemaker of Huntington and Jeff Trimble of Prestonsburg, KY; his grandchildren, Nichole (Dusty) Castle, Jeffery (Briana) Holley, Darian and Evan Shoemaker, and his great-grandchildren, Riley and Rachel Holley and Anna and Aiden Castle. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Beard Mortuary, Huntington. Mausoleum entombment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to services.
