Gertrude Clay
(August 3, 1922 - July 15, 2012)
Amy Gertrude Clay, 89, of Huntington,
widow of Virgil Clay, passed away Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Heritage
Center, Huntington. She was born August 3, 1922 in Proctorville, OH, a
daughter of the late Waitman Barb Clendenin and Gertrude Blake Clendenin
Hale. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby, Helen, and
Margie, and a brother, Paul. Amy was a former cook and kitchen helper at
Fosters Home and Assisted Living, and was a member of the Jackson Avenue
Church of God. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and David
Blankenship of Huntington; four grandchildren, Rachel and spouse, Kevin
Cullum. David Bruce Blankenship, II and spouse, Amy Blankenship, Rebecca
Blankenship and Jody Mathis, and Micah Blankenship, all of Huntington; five
great grandchildren, Casey, Makayla, Kaylea, Joshua, and Zander; and several
nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at
Heritage Center and Hospice of Huntington, for their wonderful care of Amy.
Graveside service will be conducted 12:30 PM Tuesday July 17, 2012 at Rome
Cemetery, Proctorville, OH, with Rev. Randy Lavender officiating. Friends
may visit 11:00 AM -12:00 PM Tuesday at Chapman’s Mortuary, and the
procession will leave for the cemetery at 12:15 PM.
