Lester Lee Mayes
(December 4, 1948 - March 4, 2012)



Lester Lee Mayes, 63, of Apple Grove, WV, husband of Karen J. Trippett Mayes, died on Sunday March 4, 2012, after a long battle with Leukemia. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 PM Wednesday March 7, 2012 at Chapman’s Mortuary with Max Spurlock officiating. Burial will be in Greenbottom Memorial Park. He was born December 4, 1948 in Ashton, WV, a son of the late Emerson Burley and Clara Adkins Mayes. He was also preceded in death by two infant siblings, four brothers, Gene, Donnie, Danny, and Dooney Mayes, and a brother-in-law, Gene. He was retired from ACF Industries as a welder and blaster, was Baptist by faith, and loved his animals including his special cat, Callie and his dog, Sally. In addition to his wife of 38 years, he is survived by a very special cousin who he thought of as a daughter, Kimberly and husband, Tiger Wilson, and sons, Adam and Evan; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sylvia Harrison and Betty and Bill Brumfield; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Viola Mayes and Randall and Freda Mayes; two sisters-in-law, Frankie Mayes and Roberta Mayes; special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Jimmy, Alva and Phyllis, and June and Jack; a very special friend, Bill Saunders and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Flowers will be accepted but donations would be appreciated towards an animal shelter of ones choice in his name. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington.
