Judy Lynn Williams, 72, of Culloden, WV, formerly of Teays Valley, wife of R.W. Williams, passed away Friday September 26, 2014 at Chateau Grove. She was a retired teacher with Putnam County Schools. A memorial service will be at a later date. Chapman’s Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Judy Turner Williams died Sept. 26 after a long journey with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Kannapolis NC to Rebecca and Layton Turner, attended Kannapolis schools and graduated from Woman’s College, University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She is survived by husband RW Williams, daughter Amy and husband Pat Hazelett of Hurricane and son Douglas and wife Keiko residing in Tokyo, Japan and sister Becky and husband Ted Kinard of Walterboro, SC as well as hundreds of friends in the US, Europe and South America. The family thanks the Chateau Grove Nursing Home for their care
and compassion during the last six years. We also express our appreciation to the many friends for their prayers and encouragement. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her honor to WV Alzheimer’s Association, 1601 2nd Ave, Charleston, WV 25387 or Kannapolis Education Foundation, 100 Denver Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083 An autopsy of Judy’s brain is being conducted at Ohio State University and the brain is being donated for medical research. She may have left this earthly life but her legacy will live on through her contribution to Alzheimer’s eradication. Her attributes are too important and numerous to appear as mere words in an obituary column but will be shared by friends at a celebration for the beautiful life of Judy Williams to be held at St John United Methodist Church, Scott Depot on Nov. 1 at 6 PM with Pastor Martin Hallett officiating. Chapman Mortuary of Huntington is handling the arrangements.
