John W. Davis, 91, of Huntington, WV, died, Saturday May 27, 2017 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday May 31, 2017 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Ernest M. Ritchie officiating, Burial with military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Honor Guard Post 16 will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. John was born October 14, 1925 in Huntington, WV a son of the late Harry Newton and Alberta Marie Herren Davis. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving in WWII and Korea. He participated in the assault and operations of Guam and the consolidation of Northern Solomons. John was a retired Huntington City Police Officer. He was a member of the Gold Star Lodge #65, BPOE 313, VFW Post 9738, American Legion Post 177, W.V. Chapter of the DAV and I.O.O.F.. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Newton Davis and a granddaughter, Kirsten Waybright. Survivors include his daughter, Jonda Mobley of Ona, WV, two grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyle Waybright, and two great grandchildren, Jameson Fralic and Artlyn Waybright. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Wednesday at Chapman's Mortuary.
