Obituary
Major Harvey Lane
Major Harvey Lane, 80, of Huntington passed away
February 2, 2007 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center. A son of the late Leroy
and Stacie Lane, he retired form the Huntington Fire Department after 22
years of Service. He was a former Golden Gloves welter weight division
champion. Major was a Private in the US Army. Company D 712th Military
Police Battalion and served during WW II. He attended Huntington High
School and was a graduate of Marshall University. He is preceded by an
infant son Bernard Alan Lane, one brother "Mickey" Lane, three sisters;
Clara Bell Fudge, Mabel Plybon, and Lyda "Sammy" Arthur, and a very dear
friend Lubby Grant. Survivors include his devoted wife of 44 years, Helen
Marie Lane, one loving daughter and son-in-law Christy Dawn and Gary
Scarberry of Huntington, two beloved granddaughters, Elizabeth and
Cassandra Scarberry all of Huntington. He is also survived by one sister;
Barbara Clagg of Pennsylvania and two brothers; Edward Lane of Huntington
and James Lane of Texas, a loyal friend, Bill Trippett and a host of other
nephews nieces and friends. A special thanks to the staff of the Fairhaven
Nursing Home, St. Mary’s Medical Center and Hospice. Funeral services will
be conducted Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home
with Rev. Edward Hay officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until service time.
