Claudia Mae Sorrell Bowyer
(August 12, 1914 - May 4, 2009)

Claudia Mae Sorrell Bowyer, 95, formerly of Clarksburg, WV, departed this life, Monday, May 4, 2009. She was born August 12, 1914, in Longdale Furnace, Va. to the late Frederick and Octavia Sorrell.

The family relocated to Barboursville, WV in the early 1920’s where she graduated from Douglass High School. She met and married Chester Bowyer and they lived several years in Atlanta, Georgia before retiring in Clarksburg, WV.

Aunt Claudia leaves to mourn her nieces and nephews, Wilma Harris of Columbus, Ohio, Gladys Carter (William), Cheryl White and David Minor of Huntington, WV, Georgeanna Williams and Joan Ball (Earl) of Detroit Michigan, Fred Eckles (Gwen) and Lorna Eckles of Angola, NY, Roy Goines (Doris) of San Dimas, California, Thomas Johnson (Tommy) of Colleen Texas, Diane Moore of Atlanta, Georgia, Pete Snow (Elaine) of Germantown, Md. and Doris Barrow of Lexington, Ky, Stephen McGee of Clarksburg, WV, Richard and Mike McGee both of Charlotte, NC and a host of family and friends. She also leaves to mourn a very special friend Jim Stevens.

Funeral services will be conducted at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 2:00 pm by Pastor Samuel R. Moore. Burial will be in Clarksburg, WV. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home.

We loved her, but, God loved her best.
