Margaret Lee Graves
(October 23, 1920 - February 21, 2010)



Mother Margaret Lee Phillips Graves, 89, of Huntington passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at her residence. Funeral service will be held, 12:00 pm Saturday, February 27, 2010 at The Original Glorious Church of God in Christ with Pastor George Scott and Overseer Rocine Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Mother Graves was born October 23, 1920 in Benham, KY a daughter of the late Jerry and Alice Eskridge Phillips. She was a founding member of the Original Glorious Church of in Christ, where she served as a National Church Mother, a member of the Mission Society and on the Pastors Aid Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Samuel S. Graves; two children, Francis Wedlow and Nancy Henderson; one brother, Albert Phillips and four sisters, Thelma Phillips, Katherine Hightower, Lilly Mae White and Corrine Gest. She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Burris of Huntington and Betty (Gerald) Clayton of Gary, IN; an adopted grandson, Phillip Pearson of Louisville, KY; one sister, Roena Gest; nineteen grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 52 great-great grandchildren; 27 great-great-great grandchildren; and lifelong friends, Flora Benton and Rocine Jackson. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. The care and service of Mother Graves is under the direction of Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
