Edward Vernell Turner
(May 22, 1926 - March 2, 2010)



Edward V. Turner, 83, of Huntington passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Full Gospel Assembly Church with Bishop Samuel R. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Huntington Mr. Turner was born May 22, 1926 in Huntsville, Alabama. He retired from C and O Railroad in 1987, he is also a retired coal miner from Logan Co., WV and had served in the U.S. Army until 1952. He is the son of the late Walter and Dora Horton Turner. He was proceeded in death by one son, Christopher Gene Turner; one sister, Dorothy Turner Kimbro; three brothers, James Leo Turner, John Turner, Edgar Turner; two grandsons, Charles Turner and Caleb Turner. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 yrs Willa Mae Turner; one sister, Alice Marie Trammell; four daughters, Angelica Turner (William) Grady, Doresia(Solomon) Goodson, Pamela Sue Turner, Urania E.(Ronald) Gilmore; one son, Edward Von (Shirl) Turner; 12 grandchildren, Mikki, Malann, Michael, Mitchell (Sam), Mitch, Steve, Chris, Maeghan, Chandler, Carrington; and a lifelong friend, John “June” Pierson. He is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren; Natiah, Quenton, Olivia, Xavier, Amillia, Aryan, Josh, Jyles, Camille, Kenyan, and Ethan; One great-great grandchild, Maiya. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
