James Ronald Jackson
James Ronald Jackson, 77 of Huntington went to be with the Lord, April 15, 2011, at his residence after a brief illness. James was a son of the late McKinley Benjamin and Dorothy Elizabeth Jackson born January 24, 1934 in Huntington, W.Va. “Ron”, as he affectionately known, was a devoted employee and retiree of the Cabell County Board of Education. Ron was a Korean War veteran, serving in the United States Army from March 1952 to March 1955 as tank operator. He was an avid bowler and a devoted volunteer as the Chief Umpire of the local little league for several years. He was a longstanding member of the Calvary Baptist Church Deacon Board and a member of the Senior Calvary Choir. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Augusta, six brothers Arthur, Allen, Carl, Lewis, Earl and Paul, and one sister Helen. A devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather, he leaves to mourn two brothers, William of IN, and Curtis Jackson of Huntington, W.Va., One son, James and three daughters Patrice, Sharon and Ometrice, and his nephew Dennis, and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and a Host of nieces, nephews and multitude of friends. Funeral services will be held 1p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Huntington, W.Va. with Rev. Franklin Murphy Sr. officiating.
