Cornell Hale
(September 16, 1922 - October 10, 2011)

Cornell Hale 89, of Huntington, WV died Sunday, October 10, 2011 in Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services will be 1pm, Thursday, October, 13 at Sixteen Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Garden, Barboursville. Mr. Hale was born September 16, 1922 in White Plains, NY to the late Emmitt and Enola Hale. He was preceded in death by one brother Emmitt (Sarge) Hale, one sister Dr. Rosalie Culpepper, and one Aunt Beatrice Leftwich. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Maxine Hale, his children two sons Cornell Clinton Hale, Thomas Emmitt (Jacklyn) Hale both of Huntington, one daughter Elizabeth Denise (John) Tilghman of South Carolina, and one adopted son Michael Duckworth Jr., and two step sons Gregory Duckworth of Lexington, KY and Michael Duckworth Sr. of Detroit, MI. nine grand-children, nine great grand-children. He was a 30 year retiree of the C&P Telephone Co. a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers, World War II veteran, a member of the Sixteen Street Baptist Church, former member of the Sr. usher board. Additional survivors include cousins and loving friends. Visitation will be two hours prior to service time at the church. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington is entrusted with arrangements.
