Alberta Gertrude Carter
(November 27, 1925 - July 1, 2013)

Alberta G. Carter, 87 departed this life on Monday, July 1, 2013. She was born on Nov 27, 1924 in Pike, KY to the late George and Ethel Mickens. She was the youngest born to this union of love, which also produced many other children. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her 7 sisters and 8 brothers. She worked as a Custodian for several years. She was employed by Huntington Federal Bank, the Fredrick’s Building, and did domestic care work for many elderly residents in her High Rise Complex. She loved to walk, cook, shop in the community were she never met a stranger. She was also a great fan of Atlanta Braves Baseball. In 1942 she married the love of her life in which that union remained for 69 years. She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter: Ethel Carter Walls and son-in-law Melvin Walls Sr. 6 Grandchildren: Melvin Jr. Raynard, Donnie, Shawn, Shelina, & Devell all of Columbus, OH. 34 Great Grandchildren, 15 Great Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be truly missed by all that loved her. A Memorial Service will be Friday, July 5, 2013 at 3pm Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.
