Shirley Ann Johnson
Shirley Ann Johnson a life-long resident of Huntington, WV was born to the late Frank Reed, Sr. and Frances Reed. she was married to the late William Franklin Johnson, Sr. for 51 years. Shirley graduated from Douglass High School and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Marshall university. Shirley was a faithful member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist church, were she was a Deaconess and her passion was working with the youth of the church. Shirley was a homemaker and a volunteer for Special Olympics. She was also a member of the Huntington Club of the National Association of Negro and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Frank Reed, Jr. and Irvin Reed, and a sister Loretta Hagler. Shirley is survived by three sons: William "BJ" Franklin Johnson, Jr. of Huntington, Eric Johnson and Marlin Johnson both of Indianapolis, IN. also survived by two step-children William "Billy" Sloan of Huntington and Valeria Lewis of San francisco, CA. Eleven Grandchildren: Quincy, Cartessa, William, Jr., Demetrise, DeShawn, LaShawn, Erica, Brandon, Destiny, Eric, Jr. and Joshua. Two great grandchildren: Camryn and Mickah. Sisters and sister-in-laws: Joanne Reed of Huntington, Dorothy Gaines of Cincinnati, OH, Peggy Reed and Yvonne Flood of Jacksonville, NC, Donna Botts of Harrisburg, VA, Jacqueline Reed of Detroit, MI, Mae Johnson and Martha Darby both of Huntington, WV and Jan Faye Smith of Atlanta, GA. Brother-in-laws: Charlie "Barbara" Johnson, Jr., of Man, WV, Robert Johnson of Bowie, MD, Earl Johnson of Huntington and Don Ray "Josephine" Johnson of Detroit, MI. Aunt and Uncle: Anna Jones and William Armstead of Baltimore, MD and Aunt Marie Hunt of Richmond, VA. and a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of her life will be 1:00PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Calavary Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Franklin Murphy, Officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from Noon until the time of the service at the church.
