Kenneth William Smart
Kenneth William Smart, 76, of Kincaid, WV, formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, Nov 6th. He was born February 19, 1938 in Huntington, the son of the late William and Irene Smart. He is survived by his wife, Evon, his daughter, Kenna Meachum (Rob), his stepdaughters, Jonna Lopinsky (Teddy), Marty Rush (Jeff), and his stepson, Frank Warwick (Brandi). Seven grandchildren, Faris, TJ, Evia, Savanna, Olivia, Autumn and Frankie. Four great grandchildren, Amber, Dakota, Dameon and Ariel. He graduated from Huntington East High School and Marshall College. He was a member in the Army ROTC and of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Ken had a long career as a CPA and owned several different accounting firms, most recently The Smart Group. A lifelong Marshall fan, he taught accounting in the College of Business and served the university in a number of capacities. Over the years, his contribution to the community included board member and treasurer of The Huntington Chamber of Commerce, The Huntington Chamber Orchestra, The Huntington Museum of Art, and HADCO to name a few. He was a longtime member and treasurer for St. John’s Episcopal Church. Upon retirement he moved to Kincaid, WV and became a member and Lay Speaker for Kincaid United Methodist Church. He also served as a Commissioner for the Page-Kincaid PSD. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed beyond words. His glass half full optimism was a constant source of joy to those around him. Ken welcomed each day with a smile. Every family member, friend and stranger he encountered was met with a smile and a kind word. He loved life and he loved the Lord. A visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 8th, from 1:00-3:00pm at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, 924 20th St. Huntington, WV. A service will begin at 3:00pm, followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2124 Enslow Ave. The service will be presided over by the Rev. Joe Darlington.
