Wilma Jean Akers
(December 23, 1942 - June 16, 2016)

Wilma Jean Akers, 73, of Huntington, WV passed away peacefully Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. She was born December 23, 1942 in Huntington to the late Willard Lee Miller and Imogene Taylor. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard A. Akers, Sr.; brother, Joseph Miller and sister, Nina Johnson. Wilma was a long-time member of 5th Avenue Free Will Baptist Church and a home maker. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her three children; daughter, Teresa Romans and sons, Richard Akers, Jr. (Phyllis) and James Akers all of Huntington. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, her special friend Susie McCown and her life companion, Dale Rickman, Sr. Visitation will be held from 6-8, Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 1:00P.M., Monday, June 20, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Ray Vance officiating. Family will welcome friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Bowen Cemetery.
