William Preston Wright
(May 29, 1923 - December 19, 2017)

William Preston Wright, 94 of Huntington, WV passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center.  He was born on May 29, 1923 in Tallassee, AL to the late parents Booker T. Wright, Sr. and Margie J. Wright.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Louise Wright; daughter, Wilma Davis; and one granddaughter, Tracy Davis.  William was the 2nd child of 13; siblings, Larry, Booker T. Jr., Donald, Leonard, Anthony, Dwight, U.L., Charlotte, Mable Jo, Louis, Dorothy Jean and Bobby.  He is a veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII and the Korean War, a past member of Calvary Baptist Church in Huntington, WV and he also was a retiree from the City of Huntington.  He leaves behind to mourn his loss; children, Haywood Byrd, Lawrence Byrd, William T. Wright (Barbara) and Donna Wright, all of Huntington.  Also, surviving are grandchildren: Kevin Byrd, Lydette Byrd, Devon Byrd, Lamar Ziegler, Rebecca Wright, Laterrica Wright, Mychal Wright, Montoria Wright, Jackie Davis, Gary Davis, Reneé Davis, Vela Davis, Nina Davis and Lora Davis; a host of great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.  A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home.  Family will welcome friends at 12 Noon.
