Rosa Lee Jackson

Rosa Lee Jackson


Rosa Lee Jackson was born June 27th, 1930, daughter of the late Danie and Mildred Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Jackson, three brothers: James Brown, Carl Brown and Ray Brown, along with two sisters: Mary L. Smith and Anna Brown.

   Rosa moved to Huntington WV in 1944 to be closer to her beloved uncle: James Eldridge. She received her education through the Cabell County Public School System

   She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age and attended Calvary Baptist Church (Huntington, WV) where she served as a faithful member who truly loved the Lord.

   Rosa worked for Marshall University, where she served dutifully until her retirement. And was a housekeeper for the Lowe's family. Her favorite past times were visiting the sick and shut-in, family gatherings, watching Wheel of Fortune, talking on the phone, baking pound cakes, traveling, working out at the YMCA, sharing family history and sitting on her porch with her husband.

   Rosa leaves to cherish her memory: one son; Stanley H. Johnson of South Point, OH; one daughter: Michele L. Carter of Huntington, WV; one sister: Jean Brown-Walker of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren: Stephanie Adams of Covington, VA; James Johnson of Atlanta, GA; Jermon Jackson of Columbus, OH; Shamara Jackson of Lexington, KY.

   She also leaves to cherish her memory five special nieces: Blanche (Thomas) Gordon of Winston-Salem, NC; Lisa "Renee" Madison of Huntington, WV; Jacqueline Johnson of Huntington, WV; Patricia Hornbuckle of Huntington, WV; Deanna Barron of Montgomery, WV; along with a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

   Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M, Friday, June 12, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church, Huntington, WV with Pastor Franklin Murphy officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home is assisting the family.
