Carroll David Monday, 83, formerly of Sissonville, passed away on January 11, 2016 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. Born July 26, 1932 in Liberty, WV, he was a son of the late Guy Monday and Lola Fisher. Carroll was a graduate of Sissonville High School and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from the Department of Highways and attended the Lakeview Christian Church in Hurricane. Carroll enjoyed being with people and never met a stranger. He always took time to participate in his grandchildrens' sports activities and was awarded the "Popaw Award" for never missing a game. Carroll loved being with his grandchildren, as they were his world. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Betty Jane Monday; his daughter, Lisa Lanham of Hurricane; his grandchildren, Benjamin Oxley and Samantha Oxley, also of Hurricane, and his furry friend, Sophie, the "Yard Sale Dog". Cremation arrangements are being handled by Heck Funeral Home.
