ROY ROGERS SMITH, 71 of Milton passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. He was born April 1, 1945, and was a lifelong resident of Milton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Mary Smith; two brothers, Bill “Henson” Smith and Dallas Smith and wife Justine Smith. Roy worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center for 32 years. He is survived by his best friend and longtime partner, Kathy Lawhon of Culloden; step-daughter Elizabeth (James) Setliff of Culloden; step-son Tommy (Darla) Lawhon of Lesage; sisters Bonnie (Mike) Maynard of Milton and Betty (James) Hawkins of Culloden; brother Richard (Dreama) Smith of Fraziers Bottom; one special granddaughter, Kalie Woodard and a host of very special friends. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. The family extends their sincerest thanks to the ICU nurses at St. Mary’s Medical Center and nurses at the hospice house.
