Obituary

William “Joe” Johnson, 82, of Milton, passed away Sunday, July 06, 2008 at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.  Funeral service will be conducted 12:30 PM, Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at the Church in the Valley with Dr. Stan Maynard and Rev. Jim Franklin officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.  Joe was born June 3, 1926 in Layland, WV a son of the late William “Bill” and Stella Redden Johnson.  He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Virginia Ivalene Johnson; brothers, Howard, Wilson, and Robert; sisters, Marie Johnson and Clara Slack.  He worked for more than 30 years for Vecellio and Grogan Construction Company of Beckley, WV and was a long standing member of the United Carpenters Union.  He was also co-owner of Vicky’s Candy Craft of Milton, WV and Beckley, WV.  He was a member of Church in the Valley, Milton.  He is survived by his son, Roy L. and Cindy Johnson of Milton; daughter, Vicky L. and David Clark of Milton; sister, Imogene Chamarro of Lake Orion, MI; brother, Donald Pendleton of Ootlewah, TN’; six grandchildren, Robert L. Johnson, Virginia A. Willard, Donna L. Stollings, Douglas L. Clark, James M. Johnson, and Kara S. Johnson; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one adopted granddaughter through the church, Amanda Warner; dear friends, Edward “Bub” and Barbara Hedrick of Huntington; and a host of family and friends.  Friends may call from 6 to 9 PM, Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  The family requests donations be made to Hospice of Huntington.
