Opal Collen Edwards Vickers, 88, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 4, 2011 in CAMC – Teays Valley. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Rev. Chuck Elkins and Rev. Barry Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Balls Gap Cemetery, Milton. She was born May 13, 1923 in Cabell Co., WV a daughter of the late Matt and Pearl Falin Edwards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman Clifford Vickers; son, Pvt. Billy Joe Vickers; brothers, Odell, Tom, Junior, Clinton, and Billy Jack Edwards; sisters, Goldie Clagg, Betty Hughes, Oma Swann, and Margarite Edwards. She was a former employee of Morris Memorial Nursing Home. She attended Zoar Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Jimmy and Sharon Vickers of Culloden, Herman Dale and Teresa Vickers of Culloden, and Danny Vickers of Milton; sisters, Nova Jean Edwards of Culloden and Maxine and Lester Conner of Milton; sister-in-law, Rebecca Edwards of Culloden; eight grandchildren, Sharon Dian Lewis, Jody Lee Vickers, Mindy Ann Chapman, April Vickers, Chad Clark, Danielle Vickers, Billy Vickers, and Tammy Mahon; 15 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
