Baxel Glenville McCoy, 90, of Barboursville, husband of 38 years to his loving wife, Loradean France Browning McCoy, passed away Thursday March 7, at Broadmore Assisted Living in Teays Valley. He was born March 20, 1922 to the late Robert and Nora McCoy in Lincoln County. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2013 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville with the Rev. Larry Sanders officiating. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 26 years, Betty Jean Pancake McCoy; two brothers, Jasper and Forrest (Frosty) McCoy, two sisters Edith (Pud) Hatfield and Readith (Bobby) Metz, a dear granddaughter, Megan White, and a step-son in law, Robert Roberts. Baxel graduated from Guyan Valley High School and then went to work at Morris Memorial Hospital when it was a home for children with polio. He later served as a medic in the Navy. In 1950, he went to work at The Nickel Plant where he remained for 30 years as an electrical draftsman. Baxel was a member of Milton United Methodist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Trudy McCoy of Barboursville, Donna McCoy of Martinsburg, Robin Eplion-McCoy of Barboursville; grandaughters Erin Harbour of Huntington, and Cameron Eplion of Barboursville; great-grandchildren Katlyn, Morgan and Ethan White of Martinsburg, Ian McCoy Harris of Virginia Beach, Amon Harbour and Ava Salmons Harbour of Huntington; step-daughters, Marchetta Roberts of Newport News, Va., Marilyn (Ron) Chambers of Lewisburg, Sara (Dennis) Allen of Teays Valley, Lora Browning of Lexington; step-grandchildren, Rob Roberts, Rene Roberts Krogsund, James Roberts, Todd Grass, Ty Grass, Christie Chambers, Ashley Chambers and Kevin Chambers; and seven step-great grandchildren. Heck Funeral Home of Milton is in charge of arrangements.
