Obituary
Ada M. Carnes, 99 of Milton passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. She was the devoted wife of the late Neace Lester Carnes. Ada was born June 26, 1916 to the late Walter and Luary Jenkins in Palermo, WV. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jackie Lee Powers; her grandson, Brian Morgan Gum.; brothers, Oder, Other, James, Ernie and Buster Paul; and her sisters, Myrtle Adkins, Gaye Smith, Hazel Jenkins and Ida Jenkins. Ada is survived by her daughters, Judy Davis (Randy) and Sharon Gum (Robert); grandchildren, Terry Ferris, Cristie Simpson (Lee), Kimberly Buffington (Ed), Kevin Davis (Alex), Candy Bailey (Jeff), Ricky Davis, Adam Gum son-in-law, Lester Powers; sisters, Naomi Lovejoy and Betty Adkins; and many loving great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ada was a member of Milton Baptist Church, The Pitheans, the Milton Senior Center Fun Band and was an active participant at the Milton Senior Center for many years. She was known for her ease of conversation even with total strangers. A loving mother and grandmother, she took pleasure in music, dancing and bowling. She was a consummate homemaker and loved to cook and bake. She faithfully cared for her family and taught her children the value of hard work and sacrifice. We as a family would like to express our gratitude to all the compassionate people at Midland Meadows Senior Living for the loving care and comfort they brought into her life. There will be a celebration of life at Heck Funeral Home, Milton at 12 noon on Monday, September 28, 2015 with Pastor Allen Stewart officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Memorial Park, Milton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
