Allen Lee Hyden
(January 31, 1928 - April 18, 2018)
Allen Lee Hyden “Atch”, 90, of Milton
passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice
House, Huntington. He was born January 31, 1928 in Prestonsburg, KY, a son
of the late Joe and Nora Hyden. He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Peggy Dyer Hyden in 1969; daughter, Marian Kit Hyden; three brothers, Joe
Taylor Hyden, John Rice Hyden and Tom Kit Hyden; and three sisters, Lucille
Davis, Gertrude Branham and Mary Clark. Allen graduated from Prestonsburg
High School in 1946 and from Idaho State University with a degree in Auto
Mechanics in 1955 and was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War.
He retired in 1993 with 39 years of service at Columbia Gas Transmission of
Charleston, WV. He entered AF & AM Freemasonry April 26, 1971 and was a
member of Lebanon Lodge #68 AF & AM of Milton, WV, Scottish Rite of
Freemasonry USA, Shriners International, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter
#149 of Milton, WV and AARP. Allen is survived by one daughter and
son-in-law, Peggy Lee and Jack Wysong of Milton, WV; two grandchildren,
Jason Allen Wysong and his wife, Jennifer of Barnhart, MO and Lindsay Ann
Wysong of Sacramento, CA; two great grandchildren, Cameron Smith and Leean
Smith, both of Barnhart, MO; his loving companion of 33 years, Dorothy “Dot”
Whanger of Charleston and her daughter, Kaye Vanmeter also of Charleston;
and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor David Vickers
officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. The
family would like to thank Kindred Home Medical and the Emogene Dolin Jones
Hospice House for their care.
