Lessie (Hatfield) Mose
(November 21, 1919 - May 23, 2018)



Lessie Moses 98, of Milton, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Jamestown, OH. Mrs. Moses was born November 21, 1919 in Milton, WV, a daughter of the late James Albert and Chloe Clagg Hatfield.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Owen Jordan Moses; siblings:  Essie Clagg, Violet Meadows, Myrtle Chapman, Mary Lillian Hatfield, James Albert Hatfield Jr., Robert Hatfield, Paul Hatfield and Harold Hatfield.  She married Owen Jordan Moses on January 2, 1937 and they were married for 58 years.  For 15 years, they owned the first petting zoo at West Virginia Pumpkin Festival.  During WWII, Lessie worked as a Rosie the Riveter from 1941-1942.  She was a 50 year member of Milton Chapter Eastern Star, a member of Lower Creek Church and loved all kinds of animals.  Lessie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pauletta and DeWitt Evans of Jamestown, OH; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchildren; sister, Bessie Hatfield Holley of Milton; and special friend, Dr. Faraoq Siddiqi. Visitation only will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Powers-Kell Funeral Home in Jamestown, OH.  Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, WV, where local visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Milton Cemetery, Milton, WV.
