FRED BRUCE SMITH
(February 2, 1935 - December 19, 2009)

Fred Bruce Smith, 74 of Huntington, WV passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009 in St. Mary’s Medical Center. A Funeral Liturgy will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Jim Sobus officiating.  He was born February 2, 1935 in Huntington, WV, the son of the late Fred and Gertrude Roberta Kennedy-Smith.  His wife, Betty in 2007, also preceded him in death. Fred was a retired Assistant Director of Engineering with the Marathon-Ashland Oil Company in Catlettsburg, KY. He was a devout member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Huntington and a graduate of Marshall University where he was also a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a Kentucky Colonel, member of the Regency Club and served in the U.S. Army Reserves.  He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Lynne Logan and husband, Tony of Columbus, OH; two sons, William Michael Smith and fiancé Annie DeYoung of Pasadena, CA. and David Bruce Smith of Huntington, WV; one sister, Jan Zimmerman of Knoxville, TN.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Baxter, Devin, Brittney and Caitlin.  Friends may call from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the HENSON MORTUARY. The Smith family’s care is under the direction of Henson Mortuary, Barboursville, WV.
