CLYDE V AKERS
(March 5, 2010 - May 28, 2010)

Clyde V. Akers, 78 of Kenova, WV, formerly of Greenwood, IN. departed from this life at his home on Friday, May 28, 2010.  He was born March 5, 1932 in Greenwood, IN, the son of the late Walter and Ethel (Grinstead) Akers.  He was also preceded in death by one brother, Luther Akers and one sister, Anne Hinkle. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Janet (Pauley) Akers of Kenova, WV. Also surviving him are one brother, Norman Akers of Greenwood, IN; two step-sons, Charles Smith of Franklin, IN, James Smith of Kenova, WV; one step-daughter, Sue (Smith) Simmons of Huntington, WV; 8 step-grandchildren including his special girl, Kara Simmons of Huntington, WV and a host of great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and many friends. He was a retired machinist from Arvins Automotive and a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Huntington. A Memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood, IN. HENSON MORTUARY; BARBOURSVILLE is caring for the family and assisting with the arrangements.
