Obituary
MARGARET P. MARTIN
MARGARET P. MARTIN, 91, of Huntington, passed away, Friday March 25, 2011 at Heartland of Riverview, South Point, OH. She was born July 8, 1919 at the Old Blue Sulphur Hotel at what was then known as Blue Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, later known as Ona, West Virginia. Her father was the caretaker at the hotel at that time. She was the daughter of late Albert G. and Cora M Cyrus Perry. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Henson Mortuary Barboursville, with the Rev. Brent Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park Huntington. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John W. Martin and an infant son Stephen A. Martin. Margaret was a member of Mud River Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member in age and years. She held many positions in the church, she was a Sunday School teacher for many years in the children’s department. She was a member of the choir. She was active at the state and local level of the West Virginia Baptist. Margaret was a homemaker and was an accomplished seamstress and designed and sewed many of the costumes for the Ford School of Dance. She and her husband were very active hobbyist with John doing wood working and Margaret sewing and making dolls. They traveled all over the southeast participating in Craft fairs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by an infant brother and sister; two sisters, Thelma Elliott and Irene Lowe ; two brothers Edward and Joseph Perry; She is survived by one daughter Joyce, whom at times was lovingly referred to as Joyce Anna Rebecca Todd, (Paul) Jordan Jr., of Huntington; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shane) Nicely of Hurricane, Paul Jordan III and Tracy Jordan of Williamstown, West Virginia; five great grandchildren, Jordan and Jaxon Nicely of Hurricane, Emily, Hannah and Abigail Jordan of Williamstown, West Virginia; three sisters, Alberta Swann of Coral Springs, FL, Elsie Rucker of Alexandria, VA, Erma Lee Stover of Huntington, one brother, Raymond Perry of Huntington, West Virginia and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour before services on Wednesday, at HENSON MORTUARY BARBOURSVILLE. The family would like to thank Dr. David Apgar and the entire staff of Heartland of Riverview for the loving care and support that was given to Margaret while in their care and to Kenny and all the staff who sang the "Red Red Robin" song with her. Our "Little Red Robin is Bob, Bob, Bobbin Along" in Heaven now and remembering all the words. We would also like to thank the many people who visited Margaret, especially to Bill Blankenship and the Visitation Team from Lewis Memorial Baptist Church.
