DORIS G. PARSONS
(August 25, 1934 - June 20, 2013)

Doris Smith Parsons, 78 of Huntington, WV, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House after suffering  a Stroke.  She was born, August 25, 1934 in Hurricane, WV the daughter of the late, Carl E. and Victoria Mae Miller Smith. She was a Cabell County Elementary School Teacher, graduate of Marshall University, graduate of Hurricane High School and a member of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church. She is survived by  her husband of 57 years , James “Papa” Parsons of Huntington, WV; one daughter Deborah Lou Parsons of Proctorville, OH; two sons, James “Rusty” Parsons of Milton, WV and Coach Chris Parsons of Huntington, WV; two sisters, Mabel Smith Bailey  and Sue Smith White both of Daytona Beach , FL ; four grandchildren, Candice and Jessa Lyn Parsons both of Huntington, WV and Jennifer and Kelley Parsons of Milton, WV; one great-grandson, Caleb James Parsons of Huntington, WV.  A Celebration of Doris’s Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Pea Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Gary Shepard officiating. Henson & Kitchen Mortuary is caring for the Parsons family. The family requests that in lieu of flower, that Memorial Contributions be made to Hospice of Huntington.
