JOHN MERLE CORE
(November 5, 1927 - February 18, 2015)

John Merle Core, 87 of Huntington, W.Va. passed away, Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, W.Va.  He was born November 5, 1927 in Morgantown, W.Va. the son of the late Dr. Earl Lemley and Freda Bess Garrison Core. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va. with pastor, Scott Hoppe officiating. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, W.Va. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Core Miller and one brother, David Core. Merle was a retired Industrial Engineer from ACF Industries, a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Field Artilary in the German Occupation Forces and was a long time member of Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was also a United Way of Huntington Volunteer where he formerly served as Board Member and was the 2013 Volunteer of the year. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Frances Lenhart Core of Huntington, W.Va; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Rhonda Core of Birmingham, Alabama; one brother, Harry Core of Concord, OH; two grandchildren, Todd Core (Jennifer) of Columbus, Mississippi and Lindsay Core of Pickering Ontario, Canada; two great-grandchildren, Zooey and Makella Core and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Barboursville, W.Va.
