Obituary

Nazim M. Abbess
(August 9, 1921 - February 11, 2017)



Nazim M. Abbess, 95, of Huntington, passed away February 11, 2017, at his residence, under the care of Hospice of Huntington. He was born August 9, 1921, in Logan, WV, to the late Mike Abbess and Della Hannoon Abbess. He was a graduate of Marshall (College) University. Nazim proudly served his country in the Army in World War II in the Medical Corp, 10th Station Hospital and 45th Evacuation Hospital. He also served in the Korean War and was stationed in South Charleston, WV. Nazim served as a Justice of the Peace and Cabell County Magistrate in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He was retired from Turnpike Ford of Huntington. In addition to his parents, Nazim was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Abbess. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Johnson Abbess, 2 son's, Richard (Angie) Abbess and Nazim (Karen) Abbess, II. 5 grandchildren, Rik (Heather) Abbess, Joseph Abbess, and Kinsley Abbess, children of Richard and Stephanie Abbess and Matthew Abbess, children of Nazim, II., step grandson, Hunter Payton, 3 great grandchildren, Nathan, Logan and Dayna, children of Rik and Heather. Nazim was known to his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved and adored, as Geddy. Also surviving are his sister, Sophia, and his brother, James, both of South Carolina. We would like to thank Nazim's friend, Paul Price, for the kindness he has consistently showed Nazim. Nazim was a life member of the VFW Post 1064, the American Legion, Elks Lodge 313, and The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 65. Praise the Lord, Nazim asked Jesus into his heart on November 2, 2015, and we have the assurance from our Lord of seeing Nazim again. Our family wishes to thank Hospice of Huntington for the excellent care they provided to our dear loved one. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary with Rev. B. Clee Egnar officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary.
