Mrs. Jean Gay Hundley Simmons, 91 of Huntington, WV, passed away, Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was born October 7, 1926 Smoot, WV, the daughter of the late, Forest Homer and Ethel Seldomridge Hundley. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing where she later taught in the nursing program. She was a Registered Nurse and began the first Infectious Control Program at St. Mary’s Hospital and was also a member of Church in the Valley, Milton, WV. She loved her family as they were very important to her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Mac Simmons; one daughter, Dianna Simmons; one sister and three brothers. She is survived by her children, Kathy Jane Willis (David) of Huntington, WV, Harry Richard Simmons (Belinda) of Jamaica, VA, Brenda Kay Simmons of Huntington, WV and Thomas Mac Simmons (Tammara Rae) of Huntington, WV; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Ridgelawn Abbey of Devotion Mausoleum with Nathan Mack officiating. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, East Pea Ridge Rd, Huntington, WV is caring for the family.
