Obituary

Cora Chase Barrows
June 8, 1921 - April 4, 2010

Cora Stevers Schroyer Barrows, 88, of Huntington, passed Easter Sunday April 4, 2010 in St. Mary’s hospital. Born June 8, 1921 the daughter of the late Eustace and Norma Cox Stevers, Cora is survived by one son, Jerry Schroyer; one granddaughter, Alecia Schroyer Rice and one great-granddaughter, Mikaela Rice all residing in Milton. Even into her early 80’s Cora kept up her 4 story house, big garden and yard, cooked elaborate meals for guests, cared for 2 dogs, made many ceramic objets d’art which she gifted to family and friends, created large oils on canvas, whitewater rafted and followed M.U. football fanatically. In earlier years she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and once flew with the Thunderbirds. She took great pride in her ownership of the Big Scoop ice cream store. Despite living with diabetes, arthritis and cancer, which she beat, she maintained her sense of humor and good spirits till her very last days. We have learned things from her that we will perpetuate. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary by the Rev. Timothy S. Dixon. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park.
