Richard Melvin Booth
(February
3, 1939 - January 16, 2013)
Richard Melvin
Booth, 73, of Kenova, WVa,
passed away at home on January 16. Richard
served in the U.S. Air Force before beginning his education at Marshall
University. He began his career as a professor of Geography and taught at
various schools including Marshall University, University of Kentucky and
Bemidji State University. Richard later
became a member of the Plumber and Steamfitters Union Local 521 and worked
for Henderson Plumbing until retirement. He was a lifelong member of the
Guyandotte Masonic Lodge. He spent many happy hours creating a legacy for
his family through his oil paintings as his father,
Melvin Booth,
did years ago. He also enjoyed passing on the history of our area as a guide
at the Heritage Farm. Richard is remembered
by his wife of 28 years, Patty. He is also remembered by daughter, Lisa
LaFon and husband, Larry; son, Adam Booth
and wife Krista; step-daughter Lisa Tackett and husband Doug; step-son Rocky
Crouch and wife Shelly and one brother David Booth.
Richard will be missed by his adored
grandchildren, Makena and Rylee Booth,
Savanna and Troy LaFon, Raeanna and Todd Tackett, Sara Crouch and Brittany
and Courtney Little. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday,
January 19 at Klingel-Carpenter by Dan Priest. A visitation will be held
from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
