Nolan Layne Grubb

March 23, 1951 - January 30, 2013)



Nola Layne Grubb, 61 of Huntington, WV passed away January 30, 2013 due to complications from a recent car accident. Nolan was born in Costa Mesa, CA and raised in Powers Lake, ND and Minot, ND. He was the son of Lavon Grubb and the late Normen E. Grubb of Minot, ND, and is also survived by his sisters Donelda Grubb and Zona Grubb of Minot, ND, his brother Stanton Grubb and his wife Diane of Des Moines, IA and Natalie Cheek and her husband Kris of Boulder, CO. and loving nieces and nephews. Nolan was the loving father of David Nelson Grubb and Anne Morton Yon and her husband Daniele Yon of Huntington, WV. He was the adoring grandfather, affectionately called Poppa, of Miss Elia Lucia Grace Yon, 5, and Miss Luciana Daniela Yon, 3 months. He is also survived by his former wife Malinda Warnock Grubb of Huntington. Nolan worked as an investment and financial planner in his own Business Professional Group. Nolan attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK, and served in the Persian Gulf in the United States Navy. Nolan's time spent living and working on Kibbutz Gesher in Israel was a very meaningful and happy part of his life. He was twice elected to and served on Huntington City Council, served on Huntington Planning Commission, Salvation Army Board, and KYOVA Regional Planning Commission. He was a member of Christ Temple Church in Huntington, where he was devoted to his Torah class, a dedicated member of Gideon's International as well as Emmaus Walk of Ashland, KY. He had a passion for learning, reading, writing, poetry and music. Nolan's love for his family and friends was only surpassed by his love of the truth of God. The family welcomes visitors at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Temple Church located at 2400 Johnstown Road with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Chuck Lawrence.
