Thomas Michael Shoup
(June 25, 2945 - November 28, 2015)
Thomas Michael Shoup, 70, passed away
Saturday, November 28, 2015. He was born June 25, 1945 in Hominy OK and was
preceded in death by his parents Thomas Logan Shoup and Irene Shoup. Better
known to all as “Mike”, Mike was survived by his wife Sandy Shoup of Ironton
Ohio, son Rodney Michael Shoup of Moore OK, stepson Joshua Carey of
Huntington, WV; Taylor Carey Shoop of Huntington, WV, stepsons Chuck, Danny,
Kenny Coulter of OK two sisters and brother-in-laws Vicki and Jim Martin of
Skiatook, OK, Patricia and Wayne Leonard of Deepwater, MO. and Sister-in-law
Lou Ann and Glen Martin of Ona WV. Mike had 4 grandchildren, Ty Logan
Shoup, Rinnur Shoup, Macci Shoup, and Maximus Carey. Three nieces, four
nephews and tons of great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mikie as some of his really close family and friends referred to him was
blessed with a life full of excitement. Mike loved to hunt, fish, water ski
(in his younger years) and ride motorcycles. He shared his fishing passion
with his sons, nephews and grandchildren, teaching them the tricks of the
trade. He spent several years hunting in Colorado and fell in love with the
mountains. After graduating from Hominy High School, Mike attended
college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and Northern Oklahoma
Junior College in Tonkawa, OK. Mike was a member of the 45th Infantry
The Thunderbirds Unit of the National Guard. He got to see the ocean for the
first time when he was sent to Ft Ord California. He spent several summers
at Ft. Sill, OK for summer camp and continued training. After college,
Mike went to work for Sun Oil Company in Drumright, OK and later transferred
to Cherokee, OK, where he remained until he retired in 2004. Mike met
Sandy and later moved to Ohio where he and Sandy were married Oct 26, 2008.
They bought a house and worked hard turning it into the beautiful home it is
today. They lived there until his death. Mike and Sandy always made friends
wherever they went. Sandy introduced Mike to all of her family and friends.
They shared their passion of motorcycles and took numerous trips with best
friends Frank and Debbie Jones. They enjoyed spending their summers in Lake
Erie where Mike could continue one of his hobbies of fishing and made
numerous friends there as well. A memorial service will be held at 1
p.m., Saturday, December 5 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Visitation will be
from 11 a.m. until service time.
