Charles William Fricke Jr.
(November 9, 1940 - December 18, 2016)


Charles William “Sandy” Fricke Jr., 76, of Huntington, WV, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. He was the son of the late Charles and Emma Fricke. He was also preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Fricke. Sandy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Lou Fricke; two sons, Wayne Eric (Laura) Fricke of Michigan City, IN and Troy Bennett (Sara) Fricke of Brentwood, TN; five grandchildren, Morgan Skonieczny and Danielle Fricke of Michigan City, Parker and Knox Fricke and another due in March of Brentwood; a sister, Helen Igou of Huntington; a brother-in-law, Tom Feltz (Linda) of Fairmont, WV; two sisters-in-law, Betty Feltz and Patty Feltz of Fairmont and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sandy was a graduate of Huntington High, class of 58, and Fairmont State College. He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers and coached the Elks Club Little League for 11 years. He was the “Voice” of the Pony Express for many years, announcing Huntington High’s sporting events. Sandy was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was involved with Camp Luther, Lay Ministries, Church Council, Sunday school and ushering. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church by Pastor Kevin Mackey. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park.
