Jack W. "Chip" Cook Jr.
(October 31, 1962 - February 7, 2017)
Jack W. “Chip” Cook, Jr., 54 of
Proctorville, Ohio, passed away “Into His Field of Dreams” Tuesday, February
7, 2017. Chip was born October 31, 1962 in Huntington, son of Jack W. Cook
and the late Phyllis Kathryn Gibson Cook. In addition to his father, he is
survived by his son, Jack Alexander Cook, whom he adored and loved more than
life; sisters Marsha E. Woods, Kimberly M. Cook and several nieces and
nephews. Chip graduated from Huntington High School and Marshall University
receiving his AB and MA degrees. He played baseball for 4 years where he
broke many records. Chip and his Dad are both members of the Marshall
University Athletic Hall of Fame, becoming the only father/son to receive
this honor. Chip taught in the Cabell County School System from 1987 to
2016. He also had a passion for his farm, raising thousands of tomatoes
along with many other crops. Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2017
from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary. Funeral Services will
be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home by Pastor Trent Eastman.
Interment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,
contributions can be made to Marshall University Athletic Dept. – Baseball.
