(March 4, 1925 - August 31, 2013)

Ella Ruth Mason Haynie, 88, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully from this life on August 31, 2013. Ruth was a cherished family matriarch and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ewing P. Haynie, Jr.; daughters Dreama Nutter and husband Dan and Faith Cole and husband DeWayne; grandson Jonathan Eric Nutter and his wife Jennifer; great grandchildren Ella Madelyn Nutter and Eric Andrew Nutter. Her life was enriched by her special niece Beverly Ruth Van Meter; siblings Glenn Mason, Gwinn Mason, John Mason, Marshall Mason, Marilyn Mason Van Meter, and Isabelle Mason Yoder and countless friends. She spent the majority of her life in West Virginia and the last four years in the loving environment at White Oak Manor Charlotte, Charlotte, NC. She was a long-time member of Locust Grove Baptist Church where she served on many committees and lovingly supported members in need. She was a great Southern cook, grew beautiful flowers, and spent many hours making wood crafts with her sister in law and friend, Betty Haynie Smith. She was a social butterfly offering a smile and pat of her hand to everyone she encountered on her life’s journey. Ruth’s life and impact on all who knew her will be celebrated on Saturday September 7, 2013 at noon at the Locust Baptist Church, 2888 Rt. 75, Huntington, WV 25704 by Rev. Randall Robertson. Burial will be at the Smith Family Cemetery, Wayne County, WV. A procession to the cemetery will leave the church at 3 pm. Friends may call from 10 am until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Activities Department, White Oak Manor Charlotte, 4009 Craig Ave., Charlotte, NC, 28211.
