Obituary
Victoria Louise Simmons,
64, formerly of Huntington, WV passed away into eternal peace after a long
illness on January 2, 2014 at her home in Centerville, OH. Vicki was born
September 16, 1949 to James & Peggy Wilson. She attended West Jr. High and
Huntington High School. Vicki attended Norfolk State University and received
her nursing degree. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Huntington WV. Vicki very much enjoyed her nursing career and excelled in
patient care. After Vicki moved to an assisted living facility due to her
illness 2 1/2 years ago, she continued to take the residents “Under Her
Wing” until the last possible moment. She served as President of the
Residence Council and forged many special friendships. She was an avid
reader, an excellent cook and crafter. She enjoyed crocheting blankets and
distributing them to her friends and family. There are lots of “Made with
Love by Vicki” blankets out there to be enjoyed. Vicki is preceded in heaven
by her father, James O. Wilson, her brother, Thomas Matthew Wilson and her
son, Richard Benton Simmons. Vicki is survived by her mother, Peggy L.
Wilson of Chesapeake, OH; her daughter and son in law, Andrea & Russell
Clark of Centerville OH; her son and daughter in law, Joe & Missy Simmons of
Clinton MD and son and daughter in law, Eli & Amanda Simmons of Huntington
WV. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Reilly Clark, Gracie
Simmons and her grandsons, Tyler Clark, Ben Ferguson, Sam Clark and TD
Clark. She is also survived by her brother and sister in law, Jim & Ronda
Wilson of Huntington WV; sister and brother in law, Jill & Robert Templeton
of Milton WV; brother, Richard Wilson of Huntington WV and sister Renee
Layne of Huntington WV. Vicki’s surviving nieces and nephews include Amanda
& Mark Elswick, Michael & Bre Jeffers, Wil Gore, Brandy & Jody Dyson, Todd &
Cassie Layne, Sarah & Brett Brunty, Meghan & Grant Michki, Alex Wood and a
host of great nieces and nephews. Vicki’s furry family members include
Princeton, Penny, Peanut and Mr. Crabs. The family of Vicki wishes to extend
our sincere thanks to Vitas Hospice and the staff and her special friends of
Liberty Commons, Centerville OH. A private family memorial service to
celebrate Vicki’s life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donation tributes
may be made to the Society for the Improvement of the Conditions for Stray
Animals where Vicki volunteered when possible at 2600 Wilmington Pike,
Kettering, OH 45419
