James Allen Wheeler, 81, of Proctorville, Oh., passed away on Thursday December 17, 2015 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 12:30pm at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, by Pastor James Whaley. He was born on August 15, 1934 in Huntington, WV the son of the late James Melvin “Bus” Wheeler and Mertie Edith Obenshain Wheeler. James was a loving husband and father and an avid amateur radio enthusiast, 73WA8HS4, he was a mechanical engineer and retired with 40 years as the Chief of Navigation of Locks and Dams, Ohio District US Army Corp of Engineers. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Kay Linville Wheeler, a son James A. Wheeler of Lexington, KY., two grandchildren Mitchell Wheeler and Paige Wheeler of Lexington, KY., one brother William “Bill” Wheeler of Hamilton, MI., and a sister and brother in law Janet G. and Steve Ferrell of Kenova, WV and sisters in law Myra “Brownie” Beckett of Huntington, Joyce Snow of Proctorville, Ohio and Judy Riley of Barboursville. The family would like to than Hospice of Huntington and care giver June Bowen. Friends may call from 11:00am -12:00pm Tuesday December 22, 2015 at the Reger Funeral Home. A procession will leave the funeral home at noon on Tuesday.
