Obituary

Okey Tomblin
(January 2, 1927 - January 11, 2015)



Okey Tomblin, 88, of Huntington passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington. Okey was born January 2, 1927 in Logan County, WV on of 18 children to the late Obie and Ella Williamson Tomblin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Okey was a hand buffer for Houdaille Industries for 34 years. He was a minister for 56 years and a 32nd degree mason and member of the Huntington Lodge #53 AF&AM Masonic Lodge for 50 plus years. He was also a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral services will be conducted by Elder Glen Whited on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. In addition to his parents Okey was preceded in death by his wife Garnet Christian Tomblin and 16 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his son Okey Tomblin Jr. and partner Jessica Hodge; daughters Brenda (Chuck) Sevick, Kathy (Jim) Howerton, Leona (Sean) Moxcey; 10 Grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; sister Gertrude “Trudie” (Bernie) Brewer and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6 - 8pm at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Huntington Honor Guard and Army Honor Guard from Kingwood, WV. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington.
